Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Unannounced Hexa-Core SoC, Spotted on Geekbench

Qualcomm has recently launched the updated version of the Snapdragon 660 SoC dubbed as Snapdragon 710 in the smartphone market, and now today a mysterious Snapdragon 680 SoC has been spotted on Geekbench listing which is regarded as a boon for the future mid-range smartphones and sits between Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 660
According to the listing the unannounced Snapdragon 680 has achieved 1940 points in single-core test and 5153 points in multi-core tests. However, the single core results seems to be higher than the SD660 scores (1,600), while the multi-core performance is slightly lower (5970), so it is speculated that the Snapdragon 680 chipset could be based on 14nm SoC like the SD660. The Geekbench listing further revealed that the SD680 is a hexa-core SoC that clocks at 2.15 GHz. The SD680 chip on the test device is coupled with 6 GB RAM and it is running on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

Recall the early released first hexa-core Snapdragon 650, the SD 680 seems to be the second hexa-core SoC in the Snapdragon 600 lineup. The single-core score of the new SoC is almost similar to SD835 SoC which is powering the flagship smartphones in 2017 hence, it seems that the Snapdragon 680 is a powerful chipset that is designed for upper mid-range smartphones and the first device with it is expected to unveiled a few months later.
