Vivo NEX with Ultra FullView Display, Pop-Up Front Camera Launched in China

               After a lot of  rumors and speculations Vivo has officially launched the Vivo NEX series smartphones in Shanghai, China. Recall early the production version of the Vivo NEX smartphone was showcased by the China-based company during the Mobile World Congress. At the event Vivo has showcased three devices such as a premium model  Vivo Nex S with two variants in internal storage and a cheapest variant called Vivo Nex A .
           The premium model Vivo Nex S feature 6.59 inch Super AMOLED Ultra FullView “Zero Screen” display with resolution 2,316 x 1080 pixels and  91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB /  256GB internal storage. The device is having a Funtouch OS 4.0 runs on top of the Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with a bunch of AI enhancement. It will pack 4,000mAh battery with 22.5W charger. All the sensors on the device are hidden under the display while the earpiece has been removed from its usual spot and replaced with a vibrating screen, vivo also claims that the Screen SoundCasting Technology should deliver better-sounding bass and softer treble.

              On the front there is a a pop-up 8-megapixel camera  automatically rises and hides on opening and closing camera app, and also makes a sound to notify the user. The company says that it uses micro-stepping motors with independent drive ICs and precision control algorithms to precisely control this process. There is a vertically aligned dual camera setup with 12-megapixel primary sensor Sony IMX363 (with dual-core pixels) with aperture f/1.8 (1.4μm pixels), 4-axis OIS and 5-megapixel secondary sensor with aperture  f/2.4 on the rear. The cameras on the back is also featured with AI-capabilities, scene recognition, HDR, filters and photo composition.

               The vivo NEX S gets the so-called Jovi voice assistant which seems to be a dedicated hardware button on the side, just like Samsung's Bixby. Jovi is capable of image identification, it can launch apps also it suppport smart map reading, encyclopedia, shopping, translation, scanning, and supports numerous other voice commands. The smartphone also has Vivo Game Engine, which is made in partnership with Tencent Games, it aims to provide an immersive gaming experience based on software and hardware optimization and is also optimized to run games made using Unreal Engine. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, there is also a Vivo Hi-Fi V1 System In Package technology for hi-fi quality sound through earphones. The device also supports engine-level SDK optimization, HPUE technology antenna layout, and a zero-sensor cooling system. The Vivo Nex S comes with the third-generation under-display fingerprint sensor that is claimed to be 10 percent faster with 50 percent improved accuracy, it has been noted that, there is no half-display fingerprint scanner tech, as seen in the Vivo Apex concept rather it will get in-display tech that we saw in  the X21 UD

             The cheapest variant Vivo Nex A features the same 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution 1080x2316 pixels  and aspect ratio  19.3:9. It is powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box  and will pack 4,000mAh battery. The Vivo Nex A is featured with the same rear and front camera setups, but the fingerprint sensor is placed on the back  and there is no in-display fingerprint scanner.  The connectivity  features on the devices included are  Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.

               The Vivo Nex A with 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage is priced at CNY 3,898 (~$609 US dollar), meanwhile the Vivo Nex S with 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage is priced at CNY 4,498 (~$702 US dollar) and the 8GB + 256GB internal storage is priced at CNY 4,998 (~$780 US dollar). Both smartphones will be available in Black and Red colour variants while the top-end 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant will only be available in Black. They will go on sale from June 23 and the Pre-0rders for the smartphone starts from now, in China.
