Huawei Mate 20 Pro to Feature Flexible OLED Display, Expand its Supply Chain

Early this month, we reported that Samsung is sending samples of 6.9-inch flexible OLED panels to Huawei, and if all goes well, its mass production is expected to start by Q3 2018. These 6.9-inch OLED panels  is expect to feature in the upcoming Huawei smartphone which is dubbed "strategic" (by industry insiders), which is likely to be the Mate 20 Pro and could be unveiled in the fourth quarter or  early 2019. Now today there were reports suggesting that Huawei will expand its 6.9-inch flexible OLED panels supplies with the Chinese BOE .
BOE is China’s largest as well as world’s leading display manufacturer, the company is leading in terms of LED display and competing with Samsung and LG in the market. BOE is now aiming to grab the market share in next-generation OLED displays and has started mass-production of its flexible OLEDs. However production yields of the flexible screens are still a problem, while the company has invested heavily in a 6th-gen OLED plant last year, and this grab the attention of Huawei to supply 6.9-inch flexible OLED panels for the Mate 20 Pro.
Recent rumors have suggested that  Huawei, is working with China-based BOE for three other smartphone, while there is no confirmation yet. Recall early at the SID Display Week expo in Los Angeles, BOE has showcased foldable displays at its booth and has also announced that it will be showing a 5.99-inch foldable smartphone and a 7.56-inch foldable tablet, they have also detailed its new WQHD AMOLED foldable screen at the expo. Apart from the 6.9-inch display the  Mate 20 Pro is expected to feature a triple-camera module on the back, similar to the P20 Pro. It would be powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 processor coupled with either 6GB RAM or 8GB RAM. There were rumors suggesting that the devices will also sport a in-display fingerprint scanner from Qualcomm.
